Automization????????

Automization is a term used for isolization. The term is also used in a more specific way as connected to media but not connected to other person like themselves which in turn creates the isolization. The article did a very good job in identifying and classifying mass media. They illustrated this at best by having a diagram for mass media. The diagram of mass media was divided into three parts. The first part was called the sphere of consensus. This sphere represented people that agreed on every issue and were able to have no differences. The second part of the diagram was titled Sphere of Legitimate Controversy. Meaning people are allowed to disagree within certain boundaries of the social atmosphere. The third part of the diagram is called the Sphere of deviance. This sphere represents all outsiders who are not part of the social system or disagree with the social system for that matter. The name in itself tends to make me smile with revelry. Deviance….Hmmm?? what does that mean. Deviance is a term used to describe people who violate the cultural norm. So I would be willing to say that anybody that is part of a third party is a member of this sphere.
I have two examples of this. One is my friend and mentor Jeff. He is on the extreme right. If you were to ask him what party he belonged to he would most definitely say the libertarian party which is a third party that is ultra ultra conservative. On the other hand you have me. I am a registered socialist. This would happen to be the extreme left yet we still maintain the same consciousness of being in the resistance of the 2 inner circles. I believe that even though we are on opposite ends of the spectrum, politically speaking of course, yet we are still really good friends and able to maintain a really great friendship.
The diagram is somewhat important but not of great magnitude. I believe it is important because it shows that people do not usually see that you don’t have to totally agree with one particular side. You have the ability to maintain a state in which your own ideas are actually your own. On the other hand the thing is everyone has their own diagram that they maintain rules in. The diagram can be applied to all aspects of you own views. Who gets to decide what the internal circle consists of? We do. We make our own definition of what goes inside the first sphere. We like to call them clicks. Only the people that are the same as us are allowed into our social group. So really the sphere has all types of applications that can be considered in them.
I have to say that I stand a bit concerned with the graph that it portrays mass media as a simplistic diagram. Nothing in life is as simple as just a three circle diagram. I’m not saying it is bull shit its just that its…too simplistic. I will confess it is a good basic idea in which to start the understanding but the depths to that diagram can never truly be put in to words that are known. As the old saying say a picture is worth a thousand words.

Tamerlane Edgar Allen Poe

O, human love! thou spirit given,
On Earth, of all we hope in Heaven!
Which fall'st into the soul like rain
Upon the Siroc-wither'd plain,
And, failing in thy power of bless,
But leav'st the heart a wilderness!
Idea! which bindest life around
With music of so strange a sound
And beauty of so wild a birth-
Farewell! for I have won the Earth.

Commentary: In this section of the Tamerlane poem Poe talks about love as portrayed in the first rhyme scheme. This is actually a much brighter poem than most of his work in poetry. It compares many things of nature to the feeling and emotion of love. As well as in the end it shows that by obtaining love Poe shows that he now has the earth.
